¿Qué es un teselado?
A grandes rasgos, un teselado es lo que obtienes cuando cubres una
superficie con un patrón de formas planas de manera que estas no se
superponen ni hay huecos entre ellas.
¿Te haces una idea? Probemos en inglés:
A tessellation (or tiling) is what you get when you cover a surface with a pattern
of flat shapes so that there are no overlaps or gaps.
El origen de los teselados procede de la propia naturaleza. En ella
se reproducen este tipo de estructuras una y otra vez, estando
presentes en las plantas, animales, en estructuras atómicas de
algunas sustancias...

Task 1: Tessellating my reality
1. Investigate. Look around you (when you are at home, in the supermarket, at school...etc) . You must find 4 more examples of tesselations (one for each category).
2. Take
a picture and upload them to your blog creating a new entry named
“Tesselations are all around us”. Use the tags “tessellations”,
“nature”, “food”,”city” and “sports” on it.
3. Describe the pictures (use English):
- What is the pattern , that is the shape repeating over and over again?
- How does it repeat? Is it turning, flipping, sliding?
You can just write an entry or make a presentation with the explanation.
